In order to carry out high-quality centralized power supply management, a substation map is required.
Electrical substations are used when transmitting electricity over long distances in order to convert voltage. The consumer does not need a voltage of 6 or 10 kV, so it must be reduced to a value of 0.4 kV.
The substations are serviced by electricity companies, each of which usually operates in its own region. At the same time, one has to deal with hundreds of substations and coordinate the work of many people for the maintenance and repair of operating equipment.
To facilitate this task, it is necessary to have an idea of the global picture: how transformer substations are located on a large territory, how they are interconnected, etc. Therefore, now the substation map is actively used, which is a display of substations in the form of symbols.
What information does it contain
In general, a substation map allows you to obtain the following information:
- dispatcher name of the substation;
- year of commissioning;
- substation voltage class;
- radius of the power supply zone;
- number of power transformers;
- installed capacity (MVA).
Since the commissioning of the first substations, their maps have undergone significant changes. If earlier it was a drawing on paper, which later was used in the events such as emergencies or maintenance, now everything is much more interesting and convenient. The development of Internet technologies has allowed the creation of interactive substation maps based on Yandex, Google maps and other services. Such maps are especially convenient for potential investors. Now they can easily get information about the presence or absence of electric power in a specific area (via online mode) without written requests to the relevant energy companies.
In addition to maps of existing substations, there are also maps of substations, which companies are only planning to build within the framework of the so-called plans for the development of the electric power industry both in a single region and throughout the country.
